Research Interests

My major areas of interest are acute kidney injury (AKI) and the cardiorenal syndrome (CRS). My research utilizes epidemiology and study of newer biomarkers to understand the mechanisms and factors which predispose patients to developing AKI and CRS, aid in the early recognition of these patients, and subsequently develop effective therapeutic strategies to prevent or ameliorate progression into severe AKI. In addition, I am interested in how AKI contributes to poor clinical outcomes and progressive chronic kidney disease, by studying alterations in glomerular, tubular and endocrine functions in patients after AKI.

Clinical Interests

Acute kidney injury
Critical care nephrology
Cardiorenal syndrome
