About Our Division
The Division of Nephrology-Hypertension at UC San Diego is a preeminent academic nephrology division.
Dr. Joachim Ix leads the team as Chief of the division. Along with Dr. Ix, the Division consists of over 25 full-time faculty members engaged in patient care, education, and innovation in kidney medicine. In-patient nephrology care is centered at our hospitals in the La Jolla and Hillcrest neighborhoods in San Diego, but is not limited there.
Our goal is to bring outstanding nephrology care to the San Diego community broadly, and nephrology clinics and care of our patients occurs across San Diego county. We welcome you to explore our division's dynamic work in patient care, research, education, and policy.
Recruitment open for Fellowship & Education Programs Coordinator
The Department of Medicine (DOM) is the largest department within the UCSD School of Medicine and is responsible for fulfilling the teaching, research and clinical missions of the University of California, San Diego School of Medicine. The department employs approximately 500 salaried faculty, 168 academic appointees, 331 residents, fellows and postdocs and 480 staff personnel. Under general supervision of the Division Administrator, Division Chief, and the Fellowship Training Program Directors, the Fellowship Coordinator has overall management and responsibility of the Nephrology-Hypertension Fellowship, the Transplant non-ACGME Fellowship Program, and the Division's research training programs: administering the full range of development, design and implementation of training tools, learning materials, control documentation, and record training experiences, to maintain GME/ACGME compliance.
Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor (HS Clinical, Adjunct, In-Residence, Clinical X) Nephrology
The Department of Medicine at UC San Diego is seeking Academic Nephrologists to join the Division of Nephrology-Hypertension. Faculty in this role will provide the full spectrum of inpatient and outpatient nephrology care, including dialysis, apheresis, and continuous renal replacement therapies. In addition to clinical service, responsibilities include teaching, mentoring, and contributing to research in kidney disease and innovative models of care.
Candidates must hold an MD, DO, or MD/PhD, be board-certified or board-eligible in Nephrology, and qualify for a California medical license. Preferred candidates will have experience in clinical trial design, hypertension, or related research areas. Appointments will be made at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor level, with a base salary range of $180,000–$240,000, plus potential additional compensation through the Health Sciences Compensation Plan.
