Diverse Research Activities in Clinical, Translational & Basic Science
The Division of Nephrology-Hypertension at the University of California San Diego and Veterans Affairs San Diego Healthcare System offers diverse research activities which include clinical, translational and basic science studies. The Nephrology-Hypertension faculty are well-funded with total annual funding in excess of $10 million, including NIH, VA, corporate and foundation sources. The division holds major NIH training grants in Hypertension and Clinical Investigation in Nephrology and obtains training awards each year from various foundations and corporate entities.

This tool calculates the survival rate in elderly with CKD using the Bansal equation as well as kidney failure risk using the Tangri 4-variable equation.

The Twin/Sibling/Pedigree (TSP) Resource in Hypertension includes data generated from many of Dr. O’Connor’s diverse and complementary studies, particularly hypertension, using his long-standing study of twins and their relatives.
